Detox Day 2: Secret Lovers

Mood: Fatigue, Decaffeinated.

I need tea. Here I am at the end of day 2 and for probably about half of my day I have been fantasizing about caffeine. Any kind of caffeine really; caffeine and sugar. I have been dreaming about them, lusting over them like secret lovers.

Oh no, now that secret lovers song is stuck in my head. So cheesy.

I really didn’t think I was addicted to these two secret lovers as much as I am, but I am so glad I started this detox because now I really see.

So here is my day 2 of detox:

I was actually pretty energized this morning without the caffeine, which I found strange.

The morning began with the usual: two glasses of water. Next I had two slices of papaya- very yummy stuff. Reminds me of Kenya. Warning though, this is very high in fiber so can be tough for sensitive tummies.

By 11 a.m. I was pretty hungry so I had a KIND bar. Best. stuff. ever!

Kind Bars are natural, healthy snacks made with real ingredients and none of the phony, factory stuff. They are also kind to the environment and to animals (triple win). You might think that something this kind couldn’t possible taste good. Wrong. The stuff is delicious. Try it, really.

After my snack my coworker, Nicole, and I headed off to yoga. We read that yoga helps with detoxing your body. Nicole is doing the detox with me along with my fiance Rob. Yaay.

So yoga was great. I definitely sweated out some toxins but BOY was it hard, harder than it usually is and I found myself shaky and out of breath quite a bit. After yoga all I wanted to do was take a nap. This continued for the rest of the day.

Where are those secret lovers?

My coworker was eating french fries at lunch. They looked and smelled great. I was practically salivating.

But after I made my lunch (steamed veggies, a side salad, grapefruit followed by a plum) I didn’t feel so bad.

Dinner consisted of edamame, quinoa and this yummy vegan sauce my friend Laura made.

Finished the night off with a pomegranate and some mint tea.

But now I really must sleep. I’ll be dreaming of those secret lovers of mine.

I heard the detox is easier after day 3.
