About
I have always been a girl of many names. It’s funny because my name is pretty simple, easy to spell, and only four letters long:
Hi, I’m Suki
My mother said my name came to her in a dream when she was 8 months pregnant. Ever since I was a toddler, I have had numerous nicknames including Such-a-lot, Suki-San, Ichiban, Sukalocks, Sick-a-lot, and many more. When I met my husband, I inherited an arsenal of additional nicknames but one just seemed to stick:
Sookton
And so when I started this blog three years ago, I decided what better name than the one that was given to me by my love?
Sookton’s Space is a place for musings, inspiration, yoga, health, positivity and love.
Over the years I have written on a variety of topics but all of them come from the heart. In 2011 I was diagnosed with endometriosis and poly cystic ovarian syndrome. It was a struggle but I do not let these ailments define me. However, I have a passion for learning about women’s health and helping other women worldwide.
I hope you enjoy my blog as I navigate through this crazy life.
A Girl and an Elephant
Mount Kenya, 1991
We took a family trip to Mount Kenya when I was 8 years old.
I was wearing my favorite pink dress at the time. My parents wanted to take a picture of me in front of the elephant. It was a lovely trip. We saw Mount Kenya, lots of animals, enjoyed the African sun, and spent time playing games and relaxing in nature.
Twenty years later I found this picture in a stack of pictures at my mother’s house. It was right around the same time I started this blog.
Everything happens for a reason.
I think back to that picture and I realize it is a representative of my true, authentic self. I am still that little girl with the lop-sided pig tales. A little girl who enjoys feeling one with nature and being out in the wild.
Walking barefoot in the grass.
I’m still that girl , ready to face the world, with a little more wisdom and slightly less crazy hair.
Thanks for joining me on this journey.

Pingback: Sookton’s Space: 2010 Year in Review « Sookton's Space
Hi! My name is Sue, and I’m from SlimKicker, a diet/fitness app and website. I bumped into your blog yesterday and it captured my interest!
I’m contacting you b/c we’re about to release a fitness tracker (similar to FitBit) early next year, and are looking for bloggers who would be interested in getting 1 for free to review when it is out (negative or positive).
Would you be interested in doing this? You can email me at: sue (at) slimkicker (com) with ‘Review’ in the email heading if you are.
A brief explanation of who we are, our website SlimKicker basically turns your diet/fitness goals into a level up game. The tracker will work in conjunction the website, and allow people to track calories burned and number of steps they walk automatically. The more they exercise, the more points they rack up! That’s basically how it will work.
Anyway, hope to hear back either way…
– Sue
P.S. You can choose not to display this comment as this is more of a private comment 🙂
Sue, I’m interested! Will contact you
Hi from your new follow. I stumbled across your blog whilst searching yoga+pcos so I guess that’s at least two things we have in common 🙂
Hello there so nice to hear from another PCOS diva! Yoga is absolutely amazing for PCOS symptoms and I don’t know where I would be without it. Would love to have you as a guest blogger on my blog if you are interested. Let me know!
That would be absolutely great, and of course I’d love to return the hospitality.
Great! I’ll email you the details 🙂
